Healthcare Self-Advocacy

Why it matters?

Sometimes we’re shy. Sometimes we’re confused, exhausted, or just plain frustrated. But 100% of the time, we have to push through those emotions to become our own best healthcare advocate.

Like many in my generation, I’ve walked my own healthcare path—but I’ve also managed care for my parents, my spouse, and my child. I’ve stood beside friends during some of their most difficult medical moments. And through it all, one truth stands out: knowledge and awareness are everything. When we know more, we can do more—and we can often achieve better outcomes.

Rather than let this hard-earned knowledge go to waste, I asked my family and friends for permission to share their stories. With their blessing, I am writing this book to honor their experiences and offer guidance to others. I’m proud to be their voice—and hopeful that the lessons we’ve learned can help make your journey a little clearer, and a lot more empowered.
